Mitchell van Dun

What’s it like to work at Bulsink? Who better to answer that question than our own people. In our employee stories we want to give you a behind-the-scenes look at our corporate culture. Today, it is Graphic & Visual Designer Mitchell van Dunn’s turn to tell his story.

“Bulsink encourages employees to continue developing their skills. They gave me the opportunity, for example, to do the architecture and construction engineering training.”

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

“My name is Mitchell van Dun, I’m 21 years old and live in Oud-Heusden. I completed a Media Designer training at secondary vocational level, specialising in Interaction Design. And I will soon start the architecture and construction engineering training at higher professional level. A four-year dual training, next to my job at Bulsink.”

How did you end up working at Bulsink? And why did you choose Bulsink at the time?

“It was actually not a direct choice considering my background as a media designer. I never knew exactly what I wanted to do. I always said that I wanted to be an architect in the long run. But I also like to make online videos, that’s why I first choose the Media Design training.”

“But I never stopped being interested in the construction world. In my third study year, I had to do an assignment for a construction company. Bulsink crossed my path after this and I started my traineeship as a Graphic & Visual Designer here. They let me work on designing the game engine with the others straightaway. This game engine is now used to visualise projects in Augmented Reality. After six months, they offered me a permanent job and I have been working here one year now.”

“What I really like here are the opportunities they give you for developing your skills and for career advancement. Bulsink encourages employees to continue developing their skills. They gave me the opportunity, for example, to do the architecture and construction engineering training.”

What do you do as a Graphic & Visual Designer?

“I might do some BIM modelling one day and then design graphics the next day. I really like the fact that you work on different projects at the same time.”

“At this moment I do a lot of 3D modelling in Revit, for Rituals, Specsavers and Basic-Fit, for example. And additionally, my job as a Graphic Designer is to make presentations for new customers. We have a VR room on site where customers can see their own future building as it were thanks to the models we design.”

“I myself am determined, enthusiastic and eager to learn, and so is Bulsink. If I want to achieve something, I will do my utmost to realise it.”

Bulsink uses B.U.I.L.D. as its core values: Brand-conscious, Ultra-fast, Inspiring, Leading and Determined. Or in other words: brand-conscious, ultra-fast, inspiring, leading and determined. Can you pick out one or two core values and explain what they mean to you?

“Determined. I myself am determined, enthusiastic and eager to learn, and so is Bulsink. If I want to achieve something, I will do my utmost to realise it. And I also enjoy the interaction with customers when I give a presentation or explain about our work process.”

“An example? A project at Coco & Sebas. We walked through a white painted shell building on site with an iPad in our hands for a new chocolate brandstore. With the use of Augmented Reality we were able to show what everything will look like. That’s really great. And that’s how we help customers to approach their goals more quickly.”
