Having spent 18 years at BAM, he thought he would look for something outside the construction sector. Until he came into contact with Bulsink. Meet Operations Director Niels Scholten.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
“My name is Niels Scholten. I am almost 46, live in Arnhem and am married to Dennis. Before joining the company, I worked at BAM for 18 years in various positions. I have a background in civil engineering and later studied business administration.”
“Outside my work, I love good food, a glass of wine, making cocktails. Active pursuits… that’s something I should really do more of. And I’m also fairly travel-minded.”
How did you end up working at Bulsink? And why did you choose Bulsink at the time?
“At BAM, my position came to an end. I was faced with the choice of finding a new place within the company or looking for something else. A good time to try something different, I decided. And to be honest, I initially thought I would look for something that had nothing to do with construction.”
“Then a recruiter advised me to look into a construction company in Son that I knew nothing about. He thought it would be right up my alley. I was immediately charmed by Bulsink’s website. The whole look, taking care of customers, making things beautiful, rolling out formulas, the hospitality idea.”

What do you do as Operations Director?
“Quite simply, my job is to make sure customers get what we promised them. I share that responsibility with another Operations Director. Together, we ensure that our teams become well-oiled machines, so that the entire implementation proceeds as it should: on schedule, on budget, on quality.”
“What I like most about my job is that we make things really beautiful and really fast. Technically, the projects are less complex; the challenge lies in the turnaround time. Getting it right the first time. Helping customers get the key to their new premises as soon as possible. That dynamism and frenzy makes it very exciting.”

“I think ultra-fast is an interesting one. Wanting that speed in things. Producing a quotation quickly, being able to come up with a plan in a jiffy, moving with the dynamism of our customers.”
“As a second, I choose the D for determined. Wanting to do a good job and seeing that as our responsibility. The pride of ownership – being able to say ‘we own this.’ I think that’s a good thing.”
